The Archive's main task is

1. to collect, register and maintain archive material, photographs, visual- and audiorecordings and other data of privat characteristics relating to Pohja municipality, its inhabitants, associations and institutions in past and present time.



2. to have the collected material disposable for public use in accordance with the regulations conserning accessibility in such manner that it benefits research, education and practical needs.



3. to see that the received archive material is organized, registered and maintained in accordance with the familiar principles for filing and that approved filing methods are used.



4. to supervise that probable conditions concerning the right of use and concealment by the donators/depositers are taken to consideration when lending out archive material.



5. to separate and give up archive material of state-own or public origin to the public archive that the copyrighted material belongs to and that archive material of private origin which do not fit the Pohja Localhistory Archive will be separated and given to another archive or public institution if the donator/depositer has not decided otherwise.



6. to care and take an inventory of such privat archive material that does not include the archive's collections and to have a register of this material.



7. by different activities improve the knowledge and interest in Pohja municipality’s history.



8. to keep in toutch and inform other archives and institutions of the Localhistory Archive’s collections and actions.
